LOCAL HAIRDRESSER RECOGNISED AS ONE OF
UK’S TOP HAIR COLOURISTS

Lewis Campbell, from leading hair salon, K2S Hairdressing, in Glenrothes has been recognised as one of the UK’s top professional hair colourists following his success at reaching the UK Final of the hairdressing industry’s most prestigious competition, the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award 2011, in the Colour Category

This year’s Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award had over 800 entries at the initial Photographic stage, with Regional Heats taking place across the country in Scotland, Manchester, the Midlands and London over the last few weeks.

Following Lewis’s success in the Scottish Regional Heat he is now one of only 36 hairdressers to reach this year’s UK Final, making him one of the country’s most sought-after and in-demand professional hair colourists.

Created to discover and acknowledge the industry’s most skilled hair stylists and colourists, the competition focuses on all aspects of hair styling and colouring, and the Photographic and Regional Heats are judged by some of the UK’s leading hair icons, including Nicky Clarke and Edward Darley from Sassoon.

Each year, Wella Professionals produces four key trend looks that are designed to inspire the competition. The Young Talent Category is open to stylists under 30 years old to showcase their styling, technical and finishing skills, whilst the Colour Category gives colourists of any age the opportunity to express their creativity and put their colouring skills to the test.

This year the four trends are Passionista, Lumina, Glamazon and Polaris and entrants are asked to interpret one of the four trends with their own personal style. This annual four stage competition kicked off earlier this year with a Photographic Entry and Lewis Campbell’s interpretation of Passionista took them through to the Scottish Regional Final where they showcased their chosen trend on a live model in a dazzling evening show.

“I’m so proud to have reached the UK Final of such a prestigious competition. I’ve always had a huge passion for hair and I am very excited about taking part and competing against the best hairdressers in the country at the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award UK Final in September” says Lewis Campbell of K2S Hairdressing.

Now, Lewis will now have time to prepare for the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award UK Final, one of the industry’s biggest and most inspirational events. Due to take place on Monday 26th September at legendary cultural venue – the Roundhouse in London’s Camden – competitors will present in front of hundreds and be judged by the best in the industry for the opportunity to walk away with the ultimate accolade in hairdressing.

P&G Salon Professional Partnership Service Manager, UK & Ireland, Sheila Jackson says: “The Trend Vision Award continues to evolve and push the boundaries of hairdressing talent to the limits. Every individual who has reached the UK Final should feel very proud of what they have all achieved.  It is fantastic to see so much passion and creativity and I know our esteemed panel of judges found the standard of work higher than ever before. On behalf of Wella Professionals, we wish the finalists luck as they set out to make their mark at the UK Final in September.”

Should Lewis be successful at the UK Final, they will also get the chance to take part in the International Trend Vision Award Final later this year in New York – the pinnacle of this internationally renowned competition.

Lesley Smith from K2S Hairdressing has been named as the UK’s best hair colourist winning the Gold Award in the COLOUR Category at the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award UK Final 2010 – the world’s most prestigious annual hairdressing competition, on Monday 27th September.

Hundreds came to watch and be a part of this magnificent event hosted by Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley with a special live performance from singing sensation Paloma Faith. Lesley won over the judges with her interpretation of Midnight Stage, one of four fashion-led hair trends as created by Wella Professionals.

Lesley of K2S Hairdressing competed against hundreds of colourists from across the UK at the regional heats earlier this year securing her position at the UK Final, this year held at the prestigious Roundhouse in London’s Camden. The UK final saw Lesley compete against 35 of the country’s most talented hairdressers to take home the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award 2010 in the COLOUR category.

The next step for Lesley from K2S Hairdressing is to take her win international as she represents her country at the International Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award 2010 in Paris, France on 6th November, joining colourists from across the globe to battle for the ultimate title.

P&G Salon Professional Partnership Service Manager, UK & Ireland, Sheila Jackson captured the essence of the event: “The Trend Vision Award continues to evolve and push the boundaries of hairdressing talent to the limits. Every individual who has reached the final should feel very proud of what they have all achieved tonight.  It is fantastic to see so much passion and creativity and our esteemed panel of judges had their work cut out choosing our winners. Lesley should be extremely proud of her accomplishment as she sets out to make her mark at the International Final in Paris in November.”

The Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award is now in its 8th year, with 2010 being the third year to see the introduction of the Colour Category. The event is organised by the best in the business Wella Professionals as a way of encouraging creativity and promoting talent specifically in the colour sector of hairdressing.

Colourists are briefed with 4 different trends in which they must use their favourite to interpret a look that reflects this trend. This year the trends collection consisted of: Techno Poetry, Nomad Couture, Nature’s Goddess and Midnight Stage, giving the colourists a real chance to interpret the trend in their own way and express their creativity.
